2023 AI wrap-up for designers

Let's look at the top GenAI and interaction paradigm shifts of the year

Just within a year, we went from too many fingers to images nearly indistinuishable from photography. We got our first vector and typography generators. We went from primarily text-based prompting to AI that could see and hear us. We got the first video that could help us imagine the possibilities of storytelling with a lot less effort. And so much more promise on the horizon that’s not just hypothetical any more.

And when we could cut through the noise of the hype and drama, it was apparent it was a year of radical shifts.

So to wrap up the year, I’ve summarized the most important releases for creatives in AI you should know about as we enter a new year of change.

Of course, I’ve organized them into two categories:
